Your mentor or mentee can be right down the street or on the other side of the country. Establish a mentoring relationship today and check out the materials below that we have produced to help guide your experience with Mentor Match.
START
Complete your AAHPM member profile. Make sure your contact information is up to date, add a recent picture to your profile, and expand on your bio and job history. You can even import your resume from LinkedIn. Having a complete and accurate profile is crucial to the success of the matching process.
ENROLL
Are you looking to be a mentor or mentee? Perhaps both? Sign up now!
Make selections for each of the programs demographics to set up your profile. Demographics include: mentoring topics, primary work setting, primary specialty, year's in hospice and palliative medicine, and mentoring venue. Please note that some fields are required for enrollment. The more information you provide, the easier it will be to make the best match. Keep in mind in order to request a mentor or mentee, you must be a member of AAHPM.
You must fill out a mentor or mentee profile before you are able to generate a search.
SEARCH
Use the Mentor Match Directory to input your search criteria. You can also take advantage of features to help you find and recruit matches:
- Track your mentoring relationships.
- Participate in discussion forums on mentoring topics.
- Search for helpful mentoring resources.
CONNECT
Congratulations! You're all set. You completed steps 1-3 and are now ready for the fun to start. Let the mentoring begin! Do one search or multiple searched. If you're unsure of the search criteria, select "Search for ALL of the selected values." The Mentor Match program directory will do the work for you and populate the results.
Next Click on the member's name that you're interested in establishing a mentor/mentee relationship with. The link will bring you to their mentoring profile page. Take a look at their profile to see if you think it's a desired match. If so, look under their profile image for the blue Mentor Match badge, which will allow you to request a connection. If it's not a desired match, you can simply select the back button to return to your previous search results.
